Leadership Highlights

Ways Dawn has contributed beyond a single classroom

STEAM Lab Planning

Worked with school principals while creating the STEM lab, helping shape a space that matched the school's instructional goals, budget, and student needs.

Teacher Collaboration

Coordinated with teachers across grade levels to strengthen student learning and classroom instruction through digital tools, integrated projects, and targeted classroom support.

School Support

Stepped in wherever needed to help the school day run smoothly, including substitute coverage, school events, practical troubleshooting, and support for daily student and staff needs.

Planning and Organization

Managed eight grade levels and sixteen class periods each week while submitting lesson schedules and lesson plans for both STEAM and computer skills classes. Organized project folders for each grade level to support planning, pacing, and instructional continuity.

Lab Readiness and Workflow

Spent time organizing both the computer lab and STEAM lab to make each day run more smoothly, especially when preparing ahead for as many as four classes across two different classrooms.

Instructional Continuity

Recorded detailed project and lesson information for STEAM and computer skills across eight grade levels so materials could be reused in future school years and classes were prepared in case a substitute needed to step in.

Student Progress Monitoring

Kept track of each student's quarterly progress using an improvement scale rather than traditional grades, requiring consistent observation, documentation, and communication about student growth.

Vendor and Purchasing Support

Communicated with companies about tools and materials that would work well for the school and gathered quotes for school-appropriate equipment, supporting informed decisions during the development of the STEAM space.

Schoolwide Contribution

Supporting the broader life of the school

Event Support

Helped with school functions outside of her immediate job responsibilities, including supporting sound needs for school music programs.

Operational Mindset

Brought an organized, practical approach to materials, space planning, communication, and implementation while building a new program from the ground up.

Relationship Building

Built trust with administrators, teachers, and students by listening carefully, following through, and adapting plans based on what would best serve the school community.
